Z-View Aberrometer (iZon eye exam)

This test is based on a space-age technology developed by NASA and the U.S. military (the government’s Star Wars Program) to improve the image quality in telescopes and guidance systems. This technology has now been adapted to scan the eye, detect microscopic irregularities, and measure aspects that affect your “quality” of vision rather than simply reading letters on the chart. The end result is that we can measure and treat about 20% more than ever before of what makes us see clearly. This equipment creates your very own iPrint or unique customized prescription affecting such things as depth perception, crispness, contrast, color perception and even nighttime vision. We are the FIRST in Missouri to offer this cutting edge technology and it is included with your examination.

Biophotonic Scanner - Nutrional Testing

testing8We are proud to offer the Biophotonic Scanner which was developed to measure antioxidant levels in our tissue. By simply scanning your palm, we get a very accurate measurement of how many antioxidants are in your eye to help protect you from developing macular degeneration and other age-related diseases. This information is helpful for systemic health as well as for eye health.

Please visit National Wellness Alliance and Life Pak Nano for more details on how it can benefit systemic health.

Anti-Aging Expertise

As a part of our commitment to cutting edge research, testing, and technology, we offer counseling based on the latest research available to help you minimize the effects of aging. We are proud to offer patented approaches to aging that reduce, or even reverse, the effects of normal aging both “Inside” and “Outside”. These technologies literally reverse crow’s feet, lid drooping, wrinkles around the eyes and on the face with NO surgery or injections and can be performed in the privacy of your own home. Ask our staff for more details and/or visit National Wellness Alliance for more information.

Corneal Refractive Therapy

CRT is the newest advancement in refractive therapy options. CRT allows you to see clearly during the day without glasses or contact lenses. Specially designed therapeutic lenses gently reshape the front surface of your eye while you sleep.

Imagine great vision all day without contacts, glasses or surgery. No more problems from dust, allergies, or dryness. CRT has also been shown to slow the progression of nearsightedness in children and teenagers.

Previously, if you were nearsighted and wanted to see clearly during the day, your options were glasses, contacts, or laser surgery. CRT offers a new non-surgical solution. No more worry about broken frames or torn contact lenses. Additionally, while LASIK has been approved only for those over 18 years of age, CRT is ideal for our younger patients who are active in sports and do not like the hassle of glasses or contacts.

For more information on Corneal Refractive Therapy, call today to schedule your FREE CRT consultation or visit Paragon.

LASIK

LASIK, a form of refractive surgery, is an option for vision correction without needing to wear glasses or contact lenses. Simply put, LASIK reshapes the cornea with a laser.

Recently, other surgical alternatives have become available. Among these is a technique called phakic IOL implantation which involves implanting a lens behind the cornea, but in front of the iris. With this new option, many of those who were too highly nearsighted for LASIK are now candidates for refractive surgery.

If you are interested in refractive surgery, please let us know. Refractive surgery is not to be taken lightly. Detailed testing is necessary to determine whether or not you are a good candidate for the surgery. If testing shows you to be a good candidate, we can help you choose the refractive surgeon who is most appropriate for your case. In addition, we provide pre-operative consultation and post-operative care for refractive surgery.

Specular Microscopy

We are proud to offer the latest technology in corneal health analysis. The cornea is your window to the world. This specular microscope tests the most delicate and important layer of your cornea known as the endothelium which is only one cell thick. The endothelial cells cannot replicate themselves and if damaged, can cause the cornea to lose its clarity and become cloudy. Before now, this type of evaluation could not accurately be performed on living tissue. This quick, non-invasive, and painless scan gives Dr. Vann information in order to help prevent or treat corneal damage from contact lenses, diabetes, glaucoma, inherited corneal diseases, and pre- and post-surgical complications.

OCT Retina Scanner

This is the latest technology available to OBJECTIVELY assess optic nerve fibers in the nerve fiber layer of the retina,as well as ganglion cells in the retina, and compare these measurements to the normal range based on age, race, and gender. This information, along with Dr. Vann’s twenty-plus years of expertise in glaucoma, makes the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma much more exact. This instrument also measures the retina and it’s layers in tremendous detail to better evaluate the effects of diabetes, macular degeneration, and any other central retinal disorder.

Tear-Lab Testing

tear labThe first objective and quantitatve assessment of tear quality to actually quantify changes in tears as dry eye treatments are implemented. In dry eye disease, the eye does not produce enough tears to keep the surface of the eye sufficiently lubricated. In its mild to moderate forms, it can impact the ability to go about daily activities. In the more severe cases, dry eye disease can lead to permanent loss of vision. This testing enables Dr. Vann to objectively evaluate the progression of the various types of treatments with his dry eye patients.
